The
African-American Youth Leadership Program (AAYLP), a division of the Research
and Policy Institute of California, is seeking applicants for its 2008
African-American Youth Leadership Conference. California high school students
eligible to graduate in 2009 or 2010 are invited to apply.
The Connecting Communities Coalition aims to increase the number of African American youth who achieve in school and can be admitted to highly selective colleges and universities through strong and successful community-based organizations (CBOs), whose leadership is committed to fostering high academic achievement for students; and through students who are leaders themselves. “March 5, 1875, was the day on which Blanche Bruce was sworn in as a US Senator. He was the first African American to serve a full senate term.”
