RPIC Announces Sponsorship by Southern California Edison Sacramento, CA - March 31, 2009 - It is with great pleasure that the Research and Policy Institute announces Southern California's continued sponsorship of $25,000 for the African American Youth Leadership Program (AAYLP). In its sixth year, AAYLP continues to assist students from all over the state in nurishing their leadership potential through interactive workshops, seminars and networking. Southern California Edison's sponsorship will help RPIC in continuing to provide AAYLP at no cost to the participating students or their families. The sponsorship also includes $5,000 for scholarships for participating students that exhibit exceptional leadership skills during the summer conference. "In today's economic climate, it is refreshing to know that there are still corporations such as Southern California Edison that are committed to supporting the development of tomorrow's leaders," remarks RPIC's executive director, Casanya Ursery. "We truly appreciate our growing relationship with Southern California Edison. Such relationships continue to help us help so many young leaders." About The Research & Policy Institute of California: Research and Policy Institute of California (RPIC) is a non-profit organization that provides leadership training, public policies, and community awareness to the African American communities, through a variety of sponsored programs. RPIC's goal is to bridge the gap between the African American community and access to resources which are essential to their economic, social and educational well being. We will build this bridge by providing opportunities and training for our leaders of tomorrow while serving as a research and analysis clearinghouse for today's public policy makers. The African American Youth Leadership Program (AAYLP) is a division of RPIC with the goal of providing the leaders of tomorrow with the necessary tools to be prepared for today's corporate world. We believe that this goal can be achieved in providing students with academic guidelines, interactive training and exchanges with business leaders and policy makers. AAYLP participants are prepared with the practical training to be effective leaders in their communities.
